Lisa Arriaga(Ms. A or Ms. Lisa) is the owner/director of Sing & Play. She has a degree in Music Education and has been teaching music for 23 years in the public school system, in her church, in her home, and now at Sing & Play. In addition to managing the studio, she teaches Kindermusik and Piano.
Alice Wood (Ms. Alice) is a lifelong pianist who has played for her church for many years. She has been teaching private piano lessons with us for three years.
Ashley Brooks (Ms. Ashley) is a Pearland High School graduate who is finishing her degree in Vocal Music Performance at the University of Houston. In addition to teaching for us, Ashley performs in operas and is active in church productions.
We have our lovely and highly trained Ms. Laura Mros continuing as our violin teacher - you should hear the beautiful sounds coming from that room!! Ms. Laura started playing the violin at age 4. She has recently moved here from Michigan, where she grew up and performed in the first violin sections of the Macomb, Grosse Pointe, and Rochester Symphonies. She has had 50 students in Michigan and taught for 10 years. She attended the University of Cincinnati, Conservatory of Music and took lessons by Geoffrey Applegate, Principal Second Violinst of the Detroit Symphony. Laura looks forward to joining a major symphony here in Texas in the near future. She also plays for weddings, churches and community events.
Perhaps you saw Godspell this summer -- and noticed not only Lisa Arriaga and some of our students but also Lisa Maxwell. We are excited to welcome Ms. Lisa M as our Pearland Community Kids' Choir this fall. This Musical Theatre group is growing again! Ms. Maxwell is excited about directing the fabulous Pearland Community Kids' Choir this fall!!
Bruce Courtney is teaching guitar and piano. In addition to teaching at the Studio, Mr. Bruce is continuing his education, majoring in music (of course!!)
Jennifer Thomas is new to Sing & Play this semester, having just moved to the area from California. Jennifer is a well-rounded musician with a performance degree in French Horn. She is currently teaching trumpet, voice, piano, and drums for the studio. We are happy to have such a multi-talented teacher with us!
Our "Dueling Ninjas" guitar teacher, Ben Fowler, will be teaching guitar and piano as well as continuing his education and other activities. Mr. Ben is a lifelong musician who is pursuing a degree in Math Education with a minor in Accounting. Mr. Ben teaches Guitar and Piano lessons at Sing & Play in addition to playing handbells and the guitar in the Praise Team at Faith Community Church.
Gretchen Griffin is a licensed Kindermusik educator and member of the Early Childhood Music and Movement Association and the National Music Teachers Association. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Judson College in Elgin, Illinois and holds her Texas teacher certification. Like several of our teachers, Gretchen has enjoyed volunteering in her local church in their music ministry as a worship leader, background vocalist and keyboardist. She taught private piano lessons at an arts studio outside Chicago for two years. It was there she was introduced to Kindermusik through the eyes of a child. She sincerely believes in the value of early childhood music education. Gretchen brings her love of music and children together in her Kindermusik classes and private piano lessons.
Kids' Backporch Productions director Ron Solomon will be returning to the Studio to direct our actors and actresses in drama. He is excited about all of the classes and offers private drama lessons as well. He'll also be directing more KBP so check out that website, too! Come learn to ACT and use your dramatic talents with an expert performer!
Vicki Walters (Ms. Vicki) is a Physical Education teacher for the Pearland School District who is also an an excellent artist! Vicki is one of our most requested Art teachers at the Studio.
Angie Foret (see the lovely ladies below - shes the one in the middle, between Monica Fowler and Cindy Cagle) does our bookkeeping. You've probably already met her, at least on the phone... or received an invoice from her! She's happy to help you with any questions you have and will gladly accept payments! Her family keeps her quite busy outside the Studio.
Patty Allen answers the phones, fields questions, and keeps us organized from 3 - 6 pm in the office. Retired and very involved at Sacred Heart, Ms. Patty's excited to be joining us at Sing & Play. Stop by when you have a chance to meet her!
Monica Fowler (Ms. Monica), our efficient, organized Office Manager at Sing & Play. and one of our busiest teachers, specializing in Kindermusik, Piano, and Stringed Instruments, is taking a break to spend more time with Evelyn! I'm sure she'll still be here more than she thinks cuz she just loves this place, especially Mz Lisa and the students she's come to know personally! And Evelyn loves Kindermusik (and Nonnie and Unkie Ben) In addition to being a ringer with Houston Bronze Ensemble and accompanist at Faith Community Church, Monica's also a demonstrator for Stampin' Up!
Ms. Nicole has moved from the Pearland area. We'll certainly miss her! Maybe she'll move back soon...
