Piano, Voice and Instrumental Lessons

We currently offer group and private instruction in piano, voice, violin, guitar, percussion, brass and woodwinds at Sing & Play Fine Arts Studio.

GROUP INSTRUCTION   is a popular method of learning at our studio.  Some advantages of group instruction are:  more variety in learning, a more social atmosphere, and rhythmic accuracy and independence in playing.

PRIVATE INSTRUCTION is the best option for students who prefer one-on-one instruction, or when group lessons cannot be scheduled.

Description of classes:  Piano and instrumental classes consist of three to six students.  Students are placed in classes according to age and ability.  Classes are 45 minutes in length, and private lessons are 30 minutes in length.  As well as learning repertoire, students are taught theory, sight-reading, and technique by performing ensemble music and playing games.  Sixteen classes (or private lessons) are scheduled each semester.  The studio generally follows the Pearland Public School District's calendar.  Students have the opportunity to perform both solos and ensembles in our December and Spring studio recitals.  Extra lessons and specialty camps are offered during the summer.

Practice:  Piano students should have a piano or an electric keyboard at home with at least four octaves, a sustain pedal, and full-sized, touch sensitive keys.  Instrumental students should have their own instrument at home to practice on.  All students are expected to practice as assigned by their instructor.  Parents, please listen to your child play or sing his or her assigned music at least once a week to make sure he or she is keeping up with practicing.  Lack of practicing results in a lack of progress.

Missed lessons: We ask that you consider enrollment in piano, voice or instrumental lessons a year-long commitment.  If a student must miss a class, the parent should come by the studio and pick up the assigned music for the student to practice.  Private students will be allowed no more than one make-up lesson per semester if the studio is notified at least six hours in advance.  Any lesson missed due to instructor cancellation will be made up during the semester.  Events such as hurricanes, floods, and snowstorms are considered “acts of God” and cannot be made up.

Tuition and fees:  A registration fee of $75.00 is due upon enrollment each year for all students.  This fee covers all music, materials and recital fees throughout the year.  The registration fee reserves a space for the student and is non-refundable unless a suitable class or lesson time is not available.  Tuition is $272.00 per semester for group lessons and $336.00 per semester for private lessons.  Tuition must be paid in full each semester by cash, check, or credit card, or in four equal payments ($68 for group lessons, $84 for private lessons) each semester by postdated checks, dated Sept. 1, Oct. 1,  Nov. 1 and Dec. 1 for the fall semester, and Jan. 1, Feb. 1, Mar. 1, and Apr. 1 for the spring semester.

Returned checks are assessed a $25.00 fee.
